Once, when I was just getting acquainted with the computer, I had very few passwords (only one - for accessing the Internet . Over time, after registering on some sites, forums and online services, there were more of them. And after I started doing website building - their number began to be counted not in dozens, but... in many dozens.
Passwords to email accounts, bank accounts, payment systems, affiliate programs, website admin panels, software and games... Each specific computer user develops their own method of storing and remembering them. Someone writes everything down in a notebook, another sticks sticky "reminders" on the nearest wall (or computer screen), a third saves them in a Windows notepad, a fourth simply uses one password for everything, a fifth...
The examples can be continued indefinitely. At different times, I tried almost each of the above methods, until so many passwords accumulated that shopify website design it became simply impossible to control all this motley "wealth". I no longer knew in which archive the password to the forum was, on which piece of paper I wrote down the access data to the server, and what password I "remembered for life" two years ago. Therefore, after another reinstallation of the system, I decided to find something that would help keep all the passwords (and other confidential data) in one place.
And such a tool was certainly found. After trying out some of the free software solutions, I settled on one that, if it does not have all the desired functions and capabilities recommended for programs of this kind, is at least close to them.
KeePass is a free, open-source password manager that helps users manage their passwords securely. It allows you to store all your passwords in one place, protected by a master password and/or a key file. The password database created by KeePass is encrypted using the most secure data protection algorithms available today (AES and Twofish).
Main
List of KeePass program features:
— High security. Support for Advanced Encryption Standard (AES, Rijndael) and Twofish algorithm.
— Ability to use multiple keys (symbolic and file) to access the database. Support for Windows User Account.
— Portability (no installation required). KeePass can be written to a flash drive and carried with you, always having passwords at hand.
— Export of the password list to TXT, HTML, XML and CSV files.
— Import from many file formats and databases created by various similar programs.
— Easy database transfer. The database consists of only one file, which can be easily transferred anywhere.
— Support for password groups. You can easily create, edit and delete password groups. Possibility of tree organization of password groups.
— Ability to attach files.
— Support for hot keys and drag&drop.
— Intuitive and secure support for the system clipboard. Double-click on any of the entry items to copy it to the clipboard.
— Ability to search for a password by one or another specific feature.
— Multilingual interface support (there are Russian and Ukrainian language files).
— Powerful random password generator with the ability to customize it.
— Support for plugins that extend the capabilities of KeePass. Ability to write your own plugins.
The program installation is available (in addition to English) in Russian, so it is unlikely to cause any questions. But after installation, for better understanding and generally "for a sense of completeness" you can install a Russifier, or another language convenient for you. But this is, as they say, a matter of taste - some users prefer English, and look askance at all sorts of localizations.
